Pudding
This is so moist and
flavorful with
Granny Smith Apples
and cinnamon.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup sugar (divided)
2 cups Granny-Smith apples, peeled. cored, diced
1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon (divided)
2 tsp. vanilla
3 large eggs
1 quart milk
1 loaf Italian or French Bread, cubed
3 Tbsp. Butter
11x9 inch pan sprayed with Pam
Mix in a medium bowl 1-1/4 cup sugar with 1 tsp. cinnamon, toss apples and coat so they won't brown while preparing other ingredients.
In baking pan pour melted butter in the bottom and swirl to cover bottom of pan.
Combine bread with milk mixture, with back of large spoon press bread into milk, then fold mixture together until thoroughly incorporated.
Pour at once into buttered pan.
Mix 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, sprinkle over bread mixture before cooking.
Let set for 20-30 minutes before baking.
Preheat oven 350 degrees before cooking.
The pudding will start puffing up around the edges, then in the middle, It will take 45-60 minutes to fully bake. Check in the center with a fork and pull back the bread to make sure the liquid is set.
As soon as you take it from the oven it will fall.
The cinnamon mixture over the top gives a sweet touch, and I don't use any sauces.
This was a combination of several different bread pudding recipes. I cut way back on the amount of total sugar, I will cut it back at least another 1/3 cup, next time I make it.
